On the motorway, keep to the right lane unless overtaking and watch for vehicles joining from the slip roads. Motorways are tolled: take a ticket when you join and keep it until the exit. If you land at night and feel tired, a hotel near the airport or in the city is a wiser first stop than a three-hour drive to Marrakech.
Car hire Casablanca airport: where to drive next
From Mohammed V, the motorway runs north to the city. Allow more time at rush hour, when the approach to the centre slows down. For Maarif, Anfa or the Corniche, follow the signs for the city centre, then the boulevards. Heading for Marrakech? You can join the A3 motorway south without crossing Casablanca, and Marrakech is about 240 km away. For Rabat, take the motorway north past the city. For El Jadida and Safi, follow the A1 coastal motorway to the south-west.
