Parking in Agadir
Agadir is easier to park in than Marrakech or Casablanca. Along the seafront and near the marina, attendants in hi-vis vests watch the cars for a small coin. Most beach hotels have their own car park, so ask at reception when you check in. In Taghazout, the village streets are narrow and fill up quickly on weekends: leave the car on the main road and walk down to the beach.
Where to drive from Agadir
North along the coast to Taghazout and Essaouira
The N1 coastal road climbs north from Agadir past Taghazout, Tamraght and a string of surf beaches, then on to Essaouira. Take your time: the road is narrow in places and crosses villages. Our guide Taghazout by car covers parking and the busiest spots.
Inland to Paradise Valley and Imouzzer
The road to Imouzzer, known as the Honey Route, leaves the coast near Tamraght and winds up through Paradise Valley, about 35 km from Agadir (Barceló guide). Imouzzer itself sits around 60 km from the city. A standard car manages the tarmac road; drive it in daylight.
Up to the kasbah of Agadir Oufella
The old kasbah on the hill above the port was ruined by the 1960 earthquake; its walls have since been restored and a cable car now runs to the top (Le Jardin aux Etoiles). The view over the bay is worth the short drive.
South to the Souss-Massa National Park
South of Agadir, the Souss-Massa National Park protects a stretch of coast, dunes and river mouth known to birdwatchers, especially for the rare northern bald ibis. Tracks inside the park can be sandy, so stay on the marked access roads with a standard car, or choose an all-wheel-drive model if you want to go further.

4x4 rental Agadir: for the hinterland and the Anti-Atlas
For most trips around Agadir, a city car or a saloon is enough: the main roads are tarred. If you plan to head into the Anti-Atlas or onto mountain roads, an SUV with more ground clearance is more comfortable.
